Have you ever found yourself immersed in that chain of reading stuff on a website where you had initially landed to read just one article, but then you ended up clicking several of those “Recommended Reading” links? We’ve all done that. And certainly enough, we do like and appreciate the effort made to suggest us content that we would like to read.
Why Display Related Posts On Your Website
One must always consider displaying related posts in their website because it:
- Reduces bounce rate
- Increases pageviews
- Increases average time per user spent on the website
- Makes the website more attractive and responsive
- Improves onpage SEO
Moreover, this feature is actually a win-win situation for both, the readers and the site owner. The readers get reference to further related content, while the site owner gets increased user engagement in the form of more pageviews and lesser bounce rates. This makes recommended posts a highly desirable feature for a website.
And guess what?! You can have it for your website too! All you need is the plugin that can display related posts. It would encourage people to spend more time reading and browsing around your website. Instead of just reading one post and leaving, the reader would get a myriad other reasons in the form of recommended-posts to stay on the site. And that would certainly boost your site and reduce bounce rates.

Settings and Configuration
In your WordPress dashboard, when you go to Settings > YARPP, you will get the homepage of YARPP. There are two tabs available, namely, YARPP Basic and YARPP Pro. You get different features under both of them, while Basic provides standard features, Pro has features for sponsored content.
YARPP version 4.2 onward, you have the option to mix and match features of both Basic and Pro to suit your needs. You can create any combination of features you want.
Under the YARPP Basic tab
Here you choose the posts and pages that should be shown as related. It basically lets you create a pool of posts from which YARPP can show related posts. You can also choose to omit any category of posts or any tag from being shown in the related posts section.
Here you can configure “how” you want the related posts to be selected. The value you put in Match threshold determines the restrictiveness imposed to choose related posts. Although, higher restrictiveness would mean only the appropriately related posts will be displayed, it will also lower down the number of the displayed posts. You can determine an appropriate Match threshold value for your website by analyzing the related posts shown for your content.
You can also choose if you want YARPP to select related posts on the basis of the title, content, categories and tags.
Display options for your website
This section lets you customize how your related posts section would look. You can choose if you want automatic display of related posts. Further you can customize the number of related posts displayed, the style and order of display.
